Global physical retail demands more than isolated solutions. Labor shortages, pressure for efficiency, the need to reduce shrinkage, and the growing demand for frictionless shopping experiences require an integrated vision.
With this premise, we announce a strategic milestone in our growth journey: Inwave has acquired Swedish Gateway, a global reference in electronic security, present in more than 120 countries.
This move strengthens our presence in Europe and expands the reach of Inwave’s technology, which combines AIoT, big data, and real-time analytics to transform physical retail intelligence and solve universal industry challenges.
Inwave & Gateway: uniting legacy and innovation for global retail
Founded in 1994, Gateway is present in more than 120 countries through a distributor network and is recognized for its technical quality, innovation, and strong presence in the European market. Over its 30-year history, Gateway’s equipment has been installed in more than 40,000 stores worldwide!
With this incorporation, Inwave strengthens its position as a global retail tech, expanding its capabilities in technology, data, and operational intelligence.
The acquisition represents a decisive step in Inwave’s internationalization strategy. Today, 40% of the hardware manufactured in Brazil is already exported, and our presence in Europe opens new opportunities in strategic markets of the European Union.
“We are combining complementary expertise to accelerate a more connected, efficient, and data-driven retail model. The addition of Gateway strengthens our global presence... This is the same path we began five years ago in Brazil, and now we are taking it to Europe.” — Rubens Bulgarelli Filho, CEO of Inwave
From hardware manufacturer to retail tech reference
Over the past five years, Inwave has multiplied its revenue sevenfold and consolidated its transformation from hardware manufacturer to a complete retail tech, with the creation of the Darwin Platform.
The solution is already in operation at major Brazilian chains and in pilot at one of the largest supermarket chains in France, with a 99% conversion rate in proof-of-concept (POC) tests. This experience validated our AIoT, big data, and real-time analytics model as a solid response to global physical retail challenges.
What sets us apart from traditional retail techs is our deep knowledge of hardware, store installation, and operations, combined with cutting-edge software and operational intelligence. This combination allows us to lead complex projects independently and deliver concrete results.
Solutions for the biggest challenges in global retail
This acquisition strengthens Inwave's portfolio in the three pillars that support retail results:
Loss Prevention: going beyond EAS antennas. The Darwin Platform integrates technologies for process control and real-time alerts, reducing shrinkage intelligently.
Operational Efficiency: automating processes, optimizing staff allocation, and bringing visibility across multiple stores from a single dashboard.
Customer Experience: speeding up service, optimizing processes, and understanding in-store behavior to ensure a better shopping experience.
Backed by specialists who validate our global vision
With the acquisition, Inwave now operates with two international bases — Brazil and Sweden — strengthening logistics and proximity to end-users. The European team includes prominent names such as Jenny Tielman, former VP of sales at one of Sweden’s largest retail software companies, and Denis Van Nunen, an M&A executive. Additionally, the Danish fund DSG supports this global expansion.
“My experience in global retail has shown me that challenges such as losses, operational inefficiencies, and rising costs are surprisingly universal. What differentiates Inwave is its holistic approach: the combination of cutting-edge technology with smart operational strategies that not only reduce losses and optimize processes but also enhance customer service and loyalty.” — Tom Christensen, spokesperson for the Danish fund DSG.
Bringing proven solutions to new markets
Inwave acquires Swedish Gateway to deliver integrated solutions for loss prevention and operational efficiency to more retailers worldwide, solving real problems with intelligent technology.
We remain convinced that investing in technology and people is the way to support the future of retail, in Brazil, in Europe, and anywhere in the world.
